Business Description: INITIAL CONSULTATION -75 minutes (By appointment only) It involves determining what your body type (body constitution) is, and what the current state of balance or imbalance in the doshas is. If you are having a particular problem, it is important to find out the underlying cause. Therefore, you may be asked to provide the history of the illnesses in the past, treatment history, family history, occupational history, personal history (diet, lifestyle and habits) etc. Also taken into consideration, whether your age, your constitution, or the weather is contributing to the problem. To asses your state of health, different diagnostic techniques such as Pulse diagnosis, tongue diagnosis, eye diagnosis, face, lips and nails examination will be used. Based on the findings you will be given a particular regimen to follow, which may involve Ayurvedic medicines, diet, exercise, breathing techniques and other self-care practices. If necessary, some sort of detoxification programs will be advised, like panchakarma, followed by a program for rebuilding the body’s strength and immunity. DIAGNOSIS In other medical systems, the term diagnosis generally refers to identification of the disease after it has manifested. However, in Ayurveda the concept of diagnosis implies a moment- to- moment monitoring of the interactions between order (health) and disorder (disease) in the body. The disease process is a reaction between the bodily humors and the tissues. The symptoms of disease are always related to derangement of the balance of the tridoshas. Once we understand the nature of the imbalance, balance may be reestablished through the treatment. BODY CONSTITUTION Ayurveda explains the body constitutions based on the predominance of biological bodily humors (doshas) and concept of seeking harmony by balancing these doshas, i.e. vatha pitta and kapha in our body. These three doshas are contained in every cell of the body as they governs the three principles necessary to the maintenance of life; kapha is responsible for the physical and the fluid balance of the body, vatha controls the motion and movements throughout the body and pitta manages the digestion and metabolism. All three are equally important to our mental and physical wellbeing, but they are not present in equal proportions within us. It is our unique blend of doshas that create our individual constitutions. We are a blend of all three doshas – but that blend is completely unique- a blueprint for our innate characteristics and qualities and knowing that blend can help us understand how to live appropriately for our unique nature and its needs. PANCHAKARMA In Ayurveda treatment consists of four basic forms, namely - medicine or drug therapy, pancha (five) karma (actions/ systems), dietary regime and regulation of lifestyle. And works in two fundamental ways - cure and prevention. The preventive aspect of treatment is further subdivided into swastha vritha (personal hygiene) - consisting of dinacharya (daily routine), ritucharya (seasonal corrections) and sadachara (appropriate behavior) - rasayana & vajikarana (rejuvenation & verification) and yoga. The curative aspect consists of three parts antati parimaijana (internal medicine) - consisting of samsodhana (internal purification through Panchakarma) and samsamana (curative action) - external medicine as massage, use of pastes & powders and finally surgical treatment. The deep cleansing process, unique to Ayurveda that enables the body to release excess doshas and toxins from its cells and expel them, is called Panchakarma, which basically denotes detoxification or elimination of toxins from the body. Although the human body is considered as a great, intelligent, natural healing system capable of rejuvenating itself, the formation of toxins reduces that natural capacity. It is then that Panchakarma plays a crucial role in that correction. Panchakarma consists of medicated emesis (vamana) to remove excess kapha, therapeutic purgation (viracana) to clear excess pitta, medicated enema (vasti) to eject excess vata, nasal drops or snuffs (nasya) for diseases of the head & neck and bloodletting (raktamokshana) in case of blood disorders. Five purification procedures for removing accumulated toxins and other waste material in the body.
